Special Birthday Surprise Ruined

My most favorite cousin in the entire world is having her birthday next Friday, so I have used my connections with the king of the ocean to make her a giant mermaid made of chocolate.
However, the dorkus did it all wrong.
I asked for milk chocolate-- he gave me dark.
I asked for gold foil-- he gave me silver.
You just can't get good craftsmanship out of the sea anymore.
Its just as well. I took a bite and it tasted like fish sticks.

Goflog God

As I traveled today, I happened to come across a Magnolia tree guarded by a rare god of the swamp: the Goflog God.

Goflog protects the tree from termites, leaf rot, root fungus, and herpes. However, the presence of the God prevents the Magnolia tree from flowering. So you might as well have an oak. Because there won't be any smell at all.

Nope. Not even a whiff.

Look at his silent majesty. Can you feel his beady eyes stare right to the soul of an unsuspecting termite?

Now you know why the flowers fear to blossom. He's too darn ugly.

Chair Cult

I was stunned as I walked along campus today to discover the 121st annual chair cult convention to be holding its proceedings out in public. Usually these rare and sacred events happen within closed doors-- in auditoriums, gymnasiums or concert halls. It was a rare and special sight to see them all gathered on the lawn on this auspicious occasion.

All uniformed and standing proud...

I felt like I was interrupting something important by having to walk in between the columns of chairs. They were standing by at the ready, awaiting commands from the grand chair-man.

Studying

It is not hard to tell when its exam time. I have never seen the library so packed! Every study room was occupied, every study room was taken, and the computer labs were full.

Crazy times.

The windows in the library have tiny dots all over them.
While my study group was talking about the southern secession before the Civil War, I thought about whether the dots gave the window super powers. Though I'm sure it just helps block out some sunlight to save on the University's power bill.
But my super power theory is cooler.

Summer Evening

I was leaving to get some takeout (its exam week and I don't feel like cooking), and when I saw the sky I had to turn around to get my camera.

The purples and blues were absolutely beautiful. I had to drive with the windows down and let some of that air in.

This afternoon the temperature crept to 91F-- but when I left, the swelter was completely gone.

All the exam stress left me when I let that evening breeze go through my hair from the open windows.

I couldn't grab this properly, but the moon is so yellow tonight! It is so bright and full.

I hope this means there are good things to come.

Just beginning...

I have had this blog forever, but haven't found anything worthwhile to post in it. I already have a blog where I rant and rave about things, and I have too many passions to dedicate a blog to (and there are enough fantastic knitting blogs already). I finally decided today what I wanted to do.
I plan on taking a picture every day of something that strikes my fancy and posting it here with a story behind it.
How exciting.
