I was stunned as I walked along campus today to discover the 121st annual chair cult convention to be holding its proceedings out in public. Usually these rare and sacred events happen within closed doors-- in auditoriums, gymnasiums or concert halls. It was a rare and special sight to see them all gathered on the lawn on this auspicious occasion.
All uniformed and standing proud...I felt like I was interrupting something important by having to walk in between the columns of chairs. They were standing by at the ready, awaiting commands from the grand chair-man.
